More than 140 women cyclists from different parts of the country participated in a cycle rally from Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla to Kaman Aman Setu (bridge of peace) on the Line of Control (LOC) on Sunday. The rally was held by the Indian Army to promote women’s empowerment across the Kashmir valley.

The rally covered 65 kilometres, beginning from Showkat Ali Stadium in Baramulla and concluded at Kaman Post in Uri.

A good number of women cyclists from various schools and clubs in Kashmir were also seen participating in the rally.

“We got a request from the women of Kashmir to hold a cycling rally solely for women,” said the General Officer Commander (GOC) of the Dagger Division, Ajay Chanpuria.

It is the second season of a women’s cycle rally in Kashmir. After last year’s success, a mega rally was organised by the Indian Army under ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsov’ to celebrate the 75th year of Indian independence.
