The two day-long District Pencak Silat championship 2022 being played at Polo Ground Indoor Sports complex Srinagar concluded on Sunday.
Around 360 athletes from different schools and clubs participated in this championship which started on May 28.
The championship witnessed participation from Delhi Public School, Darul Iqra Public School, International Millennium School, International Tigers Martial Arts Club, Iron fist martial arts club, Rainbow International School, Doon International School, Team Asif Club, Team Shoaib Club, Team Iqbal Club, Kashmir Harward School, SKISC etc.
In this championship Pencak Silat players competed in different age groups including pre-teen, sub junior, junior in both boys and girls besides senior men and women players.
The event is part of the ongoing special sports initiative MY YOUTH MY PRIDE which has so for brought hundreds of thousands of players under its fold.
Secretary General Indian Pencak Silat Federation Mufti Hamid Yasin, was the chief guest who distributed medals among the champions and runners up, while as Manager Indoor Sports Hall Polo Ground Srinagar Mohammad Iqbal was the guest of honour on the conclusion.
Ravees Ahmad, Coach, Central Police team, Irfan Aziz Botta, Treasurer Indian Pencak Silat Federation, Mudasir Masoody, Senior Players, Parvez Ahmed Organising Secretary, Nasir Digoo, President, Pencak Silat Association J&K and members of the Pencak Silat Association of J&K and other officials were other dignitaries present on the closing ceremony.
The event was organised by District Srinagar Pencak Silat Association under the aegis of Pencak Silat Association J&K and was sponsored by Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council.
